Today, we introduced the periodic table of elements as the ultimate cheat sheet in science. At an initial glance the PTOE looks like a chart and it is, however, like any good cheat sheet it gives us information in a small space on different levels. Here are a couple of buttons to review what we learned in class today. Remember to complete the handout for homework if you did not have time to complete in class. Also bring your color pencils or crayons tomorrow for coloring the PTOE.
Below is a great tutorial about the elements and building atoms as well as reading in an element square on the PTOE. Check it out!
This Last Button is a great source for review. It is pretty much what our notes were today. If you remember, the Periods are ROWS of the elements. Periods tell us how many shell(orbits) an elements atoms have.
Family/Groups- are the COLUMNS which tell us how many electrons are in the outer most shell of the atom. 13-3,14-4,15-5,16-6,17-7,18-8
FAMILIES -THE ELEMENTS IN THE COLUMNS HAVE SIMILAR CHEMICAL PROPERTIES. *ON THE TEST*
